Chapter 2006 Directive:
WE RESOLVE TO SEARCH OUT THE MEANING AND DISCERN THE CALL OF 'REFOUNDING' AS WE PURSUE OUR CONGREGATIONAL ENDEAVORS FROM THE 12TH GENERAL CHAPTER, 2006.

GOAL
We will rediscover our identity by grounding ourselves in the original spirit of our foundress' charism and spirituality and radically living it in today's world.

Summary of REFOUNDING Reflection/ Dialogue Questions from October 12-14, 2007 reported by Sr. Jacinta Benavidez.

In response to the question, "Is our demise imminent?" most Sisters responded with NO, especially since we chose revitalization and refounding, and if we keep a positive outlook on our journey and work together toward the future. The belief is that the Order will continue to exist somewhere in our world although it may change as we now know it. It may continue in existence through other branches of the Order or by a Union of all our houses. One or two responded with the possibility that we may go out of existence if we are not open to revitalization or refounding and if our behavior does not match our words.

It is also believed that if we lose contact with our life-giving source, "our Spiritual Source", which is the Incarnate Word, our Prayer Life, our Communal Living, Eucharist and Charism, if we become so set in our ways and so complacent that we are not willing to change, then we run the risk of becoming encrusted and fossilized in our institution. We could lose contact with reality and fail to see that change is necessary. As our life-giving Spiritual Source says to us "Do not be afraid ... to risk stepping out into the unknown, for I am with you always until the end of time..." The Incarnate Word Himself is our Spiritual Source, our Way and our Life.
