| We, Sisters of the Incarnate
Word and Blessed Sacrament, received a renewed approval from the
Holy See on March 25, 1987, to reinstate an Associate Organization
first begun by our foundress, Jeanne Chezard de Matel, in 17th century
France. Believing it was the right time and place to give new life
to her dream, we began a branch of Associates in Victoria in 1989.
Jeanne de Matel's special call was to institute an Order that would
be a new introduction of the Incarnate Word in the world. She saw,
in the Associate program, a way to share this gift with many more
persons in their own particular way of life. In an effort to be
faithful to our own call "to draw others to share in the graces
of the Incarnate Word", we have been sharing our spirit with Associates
over the past fifteen years. We have 140 Associates from more than
20 parishes.
This program is an effort to meet the needs of active Catholics
who wish to deepen their spirituality and become more informed Catholics
as they build community with others who have the same desires. It
is open to Catholic men and women and is particularly beneficial
to couples if they both feel called to it. Being an Associate includes
monthly meetings, from August through May, of study and prayer that
can help foster a deeper spiritual life, focusing on the Person
of Jesus and living His Gospel of Love. In Advent and Lent, instead
of the monthly meeting, Associates make a day of retreat.
